After a complimentary meet-and-greet at your hotel, your private tour guide will drive you in a luxury vehicle across the world famous Golden Gate Bridge where a photo stop will be scheduled at a spectacular overlook. You will get to step out and enjoy these awesome views of the City by the Bay and islands including Alcatraz. This vista point is one of the top spots where you can photograph the Golden Gate Bridge and gaze at San Francisco and Alcatraz. The Golden Gate Bridge was named for the strait leading from the Pacific Ocean to the San Francisco Bay.

Then we head from San Francisco to Muir Woods National Monument, a forest of redwoods that was established on January 9, 1908 by President Teddy Roosevelt. Visitors come from all over the world to pay homage to mother nature and these towering majestic redwood trees in the state tree of California. You will also see a wide range of other trees like California Buckeye, Bay Laurel, California big leaf maples, tall Douglas fir, redwood sorrel, ferns, fungi, duff, and debris. Several bridges cross Redwood Creek, which flows through the park year-round.

Take a stroll inside this pristine and ancient forest of giant redwood trees. There is very limited parking available in this small forest, so we drop you off at the entrance. We then take care of everything, including your entrance tickets to Muir Woods National Monument to save you the hassle and long waiting lines outside.

There is a Visitor Center, restrooms, a gift shop, and a café with daily hot food menus where you can have a snack or a drink, sandwiches, fresh fruits, salads, soups, organic pastries and muffins are made from local ingredients from neighboring organic farms.

Please note that there is no cellphone coverage in this steep canyon, but there is a public telephone you can use. The stop at Muir Woods may take from one to two hours,depending on the season, weather and road conditions. Muir Woods National Monument is a small forest, and ‘became victim’ of its increasing popularity due to its proximity to San Francisco. Millions go there every year to marvel at these ancient redwoods. Therefore, we highly recommend starting your tour at 8 am or even earlier, especially in summer and during holidays.

After your Muir Woods tour, your guide will drive you to Sausalito with a side trip to Muir Beach overlook – an amazing overlook located in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, south of Muir Woods forest. We may also take a hike on a steep and spectacular cliff side park located off California pacific highway, to enjoy stunning views of the Pacific Ocean side cliffs. This is a great overlook where locals come to view migrating whales. Muir Beach, a sheltered intimate cove, with its striking beauty of hanging cliffs and cottages sitting on a steep cliff side, can also be viewed from this vista point. We will visit this overlook when weather permits, as this can be subject to heavy fog and rain sometimes. Also, Muir Beach Overlook is not accessible to large vehicles (of 8 passengers or more like vans or buses).

We will now travel to the coastal town of Sausalito, perched on steep, wooded hillsides that give way to Marin County’s Richardson Ba. Sausalito is a small seaside town where visitors come to enjoy secular views of San Francisco Bay, San Francisco skyline and Alcatraz Island. Enjoy a break or take a stroll along rustic boutiques, restaurants and coffee shops. Afterwards, we will drive back to San Francisco through Marina District and Palace of Fine Arts, and we will escort you to Alcatraz ferry terminal locate located by the Fisherman’s Wharf. We will take care of redeeming your Alcatraz Island tickets and ferry vouchers on your behalf to save you the hassle and waiting in long lines in front of the Alcatraz booth.

Alcatraz tour and the afternoon schedule: from 1:30 pm to 5 pm(approximately), you will be enjoying a self-guided tour of Alcatraz Island. The ferry tickets and famous Alcatraz audio-guided tour are all included in the tour price. Alcatraz and Muir Woods are federally managed by the National Park Service, and they are part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Both sites prohibit tour guides from guiding inside these parks. We will escort you inside Alcatraz ferry terminal and redeem your Alcatraz tickets on your behalf to save you the long lines in front of the Alcatraz booths.

At Pier 33, where Alcatraz ferries depart from, there are public restrooms and the Alcatraz landing cafe where you can grab something to eat. For a more upscale dining experience (time permitting), there are other options including Hill stone restaurant across the street, featuring steak, seafood & pasta alongside specialty cocktails.

Please be at the ferry 20 minutes before the departure time. Sail to Alcatraz Island and enjoy a 3-hour round trip by ferry.After disembarking from the ferry at Alcatraz Island, listen to the park ranger’s orientation overview of your Alcatraz walking tour. Take advantage of the award-winning Alcatraz cell house guide which is included in your tour price. This self-guided audio tour is a great experience and available in 8 languages including English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Dutch and Mandarin.

You can then enjoy your free afternoon and a self-guided tour at your own pace. The trip to Alcatraz takes about 2 to 3 hours which requires walking up and downhill, upstairs, and downstairs. Travelers unable to make the climb up Alcatraz’s steep hill can take advantage of an electric shuttle that runs twice an hour from the dock to the prison building, and twice an hour from the front of the prison back to the dock. Boarding is available on a first come, first served basis.

After your Alcatraz tour, you can walk to Pier 39, located only a few blocks away. This is a must on your list of things to do in San Francisco. Here you can observe sea lions, enjoy waterfront dining, watch street performers, live music, do shopping and much more. San Francisco Fisherman’s Wharf is nearby where you may also consider staying at one of the hotels. Itinerary

This morning tour starts at 8 or 9 am from your hotel in San Francisco. After a complimentary pick-up from your hotel in San Francisco downtown or Fisherman’s Wharf area or even Sausalito, we will drive you to an overlook on the Golden Gate Bridge, and then to Muir Woods National Monument. In Muir Woods forest, your driver will provide the required entrance tickets (included in is the Alcatraz Redwoods tour price), so you can enjoy a self-guided tour inside Muir Woods and marvel at the giant coastal redwoods. Please note that tour guides are not allowed to guide inside Muir Woods National Monument and Alcatraz. Muir Woods is a small forest with very limited parking, so being driven there means you don’t have to walk far to reach the entrance.We will drop you off at the main entrance and take care of parking and the rest.

After Muir Woods, we will then visit Sausalito with an optional stop at Muir Beach overlook, weather permitting, as this can sometimes be subject to heavy fog and rain.

Meals, Driver’s gratuity tips. Gratuities are recommended and customary in the USA at 15%-20%), and entrance tickets to any optional site(s) or monument(s), drop off at your hotel after Alcatraz tour.

• The itinerary may change based on your time, road or weather conditions, pick-up location and preference. When it is rainy or foggy, we have to skip some areas /places for safety considerations or due to the lack of visibility.

• Please note that many sites, attractions, landmarks and neighborhoods are restricted and prohibited to large vehicles and vans including places like Lombard Street, Russian Hill, Telegraph Hill, Sea Cliff, Marina, Muir Beach and Overlook, Alamos Square (painted ladies), and all other areas restricted by law to van or bus tours. Our Terms, Refund and Cancellation Policy are as follows:

1. 50% of the total amount will be refunded if the tour is canceled at least 7 business days prior to the scheduled tour or service.
2. 91% of the total amount will be refunded if the tour is canceled at least 15 days prior to the scheduled tour (or the date of the tour or service) 9% covers the required transaction fees; that’s 4.5 % per transaction (booking is one transaction and refunding is a second transaction)
3. 15% of the total amount will be refunded if the tour is canceled at least 6 business days prior to the scheduled tour (week-ends and holidays don’t count).
4. 0% of the total amount will be refunded if the tour is canceled 4 business days or less prior to the day of the scheduled tour or service. This includes no-shows. (Week-ends and holidays don’t count).

Cancellation & Refund Fees
There is a charge for each transaction when wanting a refund. This charge will vary from 4.5% to 7.9% per transaction depending on the type of credit card you used to make the transaction and the country where the credit card was issued. This charge covers the credit card transaction fees that your credit card company charged us when you made the reservation on our website and includes the required merchant processing fees associated with your credit card company. This policy applies on all refunds as well, regardless of the amount or the date of the refund.
Methods of Payment and Accepted Credit Cards: We accept all major credit cards including Master Card, Visa, Discover, American Express, wire transfers, Debit Cards, Euro Cards, “Cartes Bleues.” and PayPal. We may in exceptional circumstances accept payments in cash from clients who have no credit cards.

Online Reservation and Transactions

What happens after we void or refund a transaction?Approved transactions: When transactions are processed on our website, and approved by your bank, it still takes about 7 to 10 business days before we even get the required funds transferred to our business merchant bank account. However, we still honor your tour(s) as scheduled if your transaction is approved, even if the tour is scheduled for the next day, as long as the tour is available. We are committed to provide high quality services and tours to our customers.

Voided and refunded transactions: When a transaction is voided, or refunded, the charge is removed from the authorized transaction inquiry and never batched or settled because the funds never leaves customers’ bank account. However, all such transactions will still show on customers’ bank statement as “pending” for up to 7 to 10 business days because the funds are temporarily frozen by your own bank without leaving your account. Please take this aspect into consideration before you follow up with us.
To release the funds, you will need to contact your bank and handle this directly with them as this has nothing do with us.

Common mistakes and misconception about voided transactions: Most customers do not realize or understand their own bank’s policy and guidelines regarding online purchases. The main issue is that the funds from the voided charge will be inaccessible to the client for a full 10 business days. For that reason, clients often think that the charge was still placed on their credit card, but in reality, it has never left their bank account and will be available only after 10 business days. In other words, voiding a credit card transaction will not remove the charge from customer’s bank account immediately, please be patient before you follow up with us or your bank in this regard. Banks usually take 7 to 10 business days to release these funds back to your account, and this is totally beyond our control and has nothing to do with us.

Declined transactions. Why your reservation was declined? When a reservation is declined by client’s own bank, this is often due to a mismatch between customer’s bank information (such as the name on the credit card, card number, expiration date, CVV, zip/postal code or billing address). If any one of these verification factors don’t match the information you provided on our website, comparing to the bank information when placed your order, your transaction is automatically declined by your own bank to protect your bank information from fraud. Sometimes, transactions are also declined due to insufficient funds as well. Your tour(s) will not be confirmed until your new transaction is approved by your own bank. We apologize for the inconvenience but your own bank did so to prevent fraud and protect your credit card information.

Tip: Most credit card companies including Amex now require from their clients to inform them in advance when making purchase online or out of town / state, otherwise they decline the transaction to prevent fraud. You may also get an email or text message alert asking you to approve or decline the transaction that has been declined before you resubmit it online, this is out of our hands and it’s indeed required by many credit cards companies for customers’ own good.

-All our tours including Alcatraz are subject to availability even if the online transaction is approved. We do reserve the right to void or refund your transaction when Alcatraz tickets are sold out. This is totally out of our hands as the only provider of Alcatraz tickets and tours are governed by the U.S. National Park Service.

-We do require at least 2 months in advance when booking our Alcatraz tour during the peaks season, holidays and week-ends, sometimes even more, specially from May to October. The peak season refers to the period of April to the end of October.

-We reserve the right to offer you alternative tours when Alcatraz tickets are sold out. If you decline our offer, we will fully refund your transaction – a process which takes about 10 business days before your funds are available to you. Fascinating combo tour of SF & Alcatraz

Reserve Alcatraz tickets in advance, the tour was So much better than I was expecting. You get a ferry ride from San Francisco piers to the Alcatraz island. It was rainy, and foggy that day, but still well worth the trip. The trip was very well run, we were welcomed in the dock by a ranger who let us know some key information and rules before visiting the prison.
